Baton Rouge Asset Building Coalition to Kick-Off Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign

The Baton Rouge Asset Building Coalition is spreading the word on the many advantages of utilizing the Earned Income Tax Credit during this tax season through an awareness campaign set to kick-off Wednesday, January 11, 2006. The Baton Rouge Asset Building Coalition is comprised of governmental, private and non-profit organizations, such as the Southern University Ag Center, Baton Rouge city/parish governmental agencies and JP Morgan Chase, all of which share a common goal of educating the public on financial literacy.

A kick-off press conference and luncheon will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 11:00 pm-1:00 pm at the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center (A.O. Williams Hall). The 2005 Earned Income Tax Credit campaign has been recognized as one of the federal government’s most successful anti-poverty programs. Baton Rouge Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden is scheduled to appear to support and endorse this campaign.
