Seminar to help buy, refinance, repair homes scheduled March 12
VILLE PLATTE-The Southern University Center for Rural and Small Business Development will present a seminar on home buying,
refinancing, and repairing on Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Ville Platte City Hall board meeting room,126 E. Main Street, 6 p.m.
Interested attendees will receive information about conventional loans and housing loan and grant programs available with the
United States Department of Agriculture.
"This seminar was quite popular in St. Landry Parish and we hope the residents of Evangeline Parish will find it just as useful
and beneficial," says LaVonya Malveaux, director of the Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives.
Located in Opelousas, the Southwest Center is a satellite entity of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
Its mission is to promote socioeconomic development within a ten-parish region. "As we seek to improve the quality of life for rural
citizens, the Southwest Center wants homeownership accessible to everyone," says Malveaux. Southern's Center for Rural and Small
Business Development implements workshops and seminars for rural communities and small businesses.
