The Southern University Ag Center to hold the 37th Annual State Horse Show and Trail ride

Trail riders from across the state are saddling up for the Southern University Ag Center’s 37th Annual State Horse Show and Trail ride on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st at the M.A. Edmond Livestock Arena located on Hwy 61.

The kickoff event is the western round-up and calf roping competition on Friday, March 31st at 7 p.m. Events for Saturday, April 1st include the Trail ride, beginning at Dominique Stockyard at 9:00 a.m. (with registration at 8:00 a.m.) and ending at the M.A. Edmond Arena on Hwy 61. Following the trail ride, the youth competitions will start at 12:00 p.m. with the Youth Horse Show.

“This is another way that the Ag Center continues to be intricately involved in our youth from around the state by allocating the proceeds from this event to the youth participants of the Horse Show,” says Christie Monroe, Assistant Director of the Livestock Show.

The trail ride is a collaborative effort with several organizations throughout the southern region and began initially on Saturday, March 25th in Eldorado, Ark. The participants continue the trail ride daily until they reach their destination at the Ag Center’s M.A. Edmond Livestock Arena.
