COMMUNITY TOURS
Thursday, February 26
3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

(Bus departs from the hotel entrance)

Desire Street Ministries: Just a few miles beyond the picture-postcard world of the French Quarter, sits an area that tour buses steer clear of. The site of what once was the second largest housing project in the country; this place called Desire has been labeled the murder capital of New Orleans and one of the worst places to live in the country. The vision of Desire Street Ministries is to revitalize the Desire community through spiritual and community development. For more information, visit

New Orleans Center for Successful Living (NOCSL’s): The New Orleans Center for Successful Living (NOCSL), a non-profit CDC sponsored by Christian Faith Ministries, was established in 1991. “The Prince of Praise”

The minister of music at Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, MA since 1998, Byron Cage uses his soulful tenor vocals and choir director skills to confirm his faith. Together with his nine-vocalist group Purpose, which he formed in the mid-‘90s, Cage has recorded three memorable live albums of spirituals: Transparent in Your Presence, Dwell Among Us, and The Prince of Praise. Inspired by gospel singers, the Rev. Donald Vails and Thomas Winfield, Cage began singing gospel music as a teenager. He also served as music director of the New Birth Church in Atlanta for a decade. He has worked also with the GMWA National Mass Choir, Full Gospel Baptist Choir, and Bishop Dennis Leonard’s Heritage Christian Center Mass Choir. For more information, visit www.byroncage.com
