The Office of Communications serves as the liaison between the Southern University Ag Center/ CAFCS Campus and the news media. The office promotes the accomplishments, programs and services provided by the Southern University Ag Center and the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences.
In an effort to generate positive news coverage for the Campus, please adhere to the following guidelines:
The communications specialist will be responsible for the creation and distribution of information from the Southern University Ag Center/ CAFCS Campus regarding all campus programs, activities and events as well as initiating contact with all news media and external communications offices, to include the SUS System Office.
Program or event specific news releases MUST BE EDITED, APPROVED AND DISTRIBUTED BY THE OFFICE OF IT AND COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES.
ALL live or recorded news appearances MUST be approved and coordinated by the Office of IT and Communications Services.
Only the Chancellor-Dean, the Executive Administrators and the Communications Specialist are permitted to serve as spokespersons for the Ag Center and the CAFCS.
*Faculty and staff may respond to requests from the media regarding their programs and events, their research or their specific areas of expert.
The communications specialist MUST be notified of ALL media inquiries and interviews.
Official correspondence with public officials for the purpose of conducting business, promoting SU Ag Center/CAFCS programs and activities, soliciting resources or funding or extending an official invitation MUST be edited and approved by the Office of IT and Communications Services prior to distribution.
Include the following in your request:
- Requested Service (expert Interview, Media Inquiry, News or Media Appearence, Official Statement, or Press Release)
- Event Date and Time
- Event Locations (Include full address.)
- Requested Release Date
