Nine Members were Inducted into the SU Ag Center’s Morrill Society

Baton Rouge, La. – The Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center’s Morrill Society Fund held an induction ceremony for its newest founding members at the Matthews Center for Innovation on October 16, 2024.

The fund was established in 2020 under the leadership of Dr. Orlando F. McMeans, Chancellor-Dean of the SU Ag Center and the College of Ag. The society is comprised of loyal alumni and friends who support the Ag Center and the College of Ag annually through financial contributions. Founding members are designated as the first 90 individuals reaching $5,000 or more in unrestricted, lifetime giving to Southern University Agriculture Programming.

The goal of the fund is to provide recurring, annual, unrestricted support for the Southern University Ag Center and the College of Ag.

"By providing unrestricted funding, the Morrill Society Fund allows the SU Ag Center and College of Agriculture to address immediate needs and priorities, invest in emerging opportunities, and support programs that are not covered by other funding sources. This flexibility is crucial in times of budget cuts and increasing financial constraints, as it enables the institutions to adapt to changing circumstances and continue delivering high-quality education & scholarships, research, and outreach initiatives," said Robert Easly, Jr., Director of Advancement for the SU Ag Center.

The Morrill Society has raised and provided an impact of nearly $500,000.
