Welcome to the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center’s-Office of Research. With a mission to "Link Citizens of Louisiana with Opportunities for Success”, SUAREC’s research is focused to transform lives through innovative research and education. Our research unit has achieved great success over the past decades. We have expanded the breadth and depth of our research portfolio and strengthened our strategic partnerships to improve the conditions of citizens and communities.
Our faculty members are consistently being recognized for their accomplishments, publishing in leading journals and earning prestigious awards for their groundbreaking efforts.
While we are proud of our accomplishments, we remain focused on the future and on strengthening our research and its impact on our state, nation and the world.
Our research goals are consistent with the USDA national goals and are as follows:
- To achieve an agricultural production system that is highly competitive
- To enhance agricultural productivity while protecting and improving the environment
- To achieve a healthier, more nourished population
- To enhance economic opportunities and the quality of life for the people of Louisiana and society in general
As an institution, we must think and act boldly. Current challenges are complex and the solutions will require great resources of aptitude and expertise that are focused on discovering 21st opportunities. We cannot do it alone. This work will require collaborations among diverse stakeholders with varied expertise. The Office of Research at SUAREC strives to reach beyond our institution to engage new partners who share our passion for research.
Outcome-driven research and educational programs that bring measurable progression for the well being of our clientele is our highest priority.
