The "Plant It, Grow It, Try It, Like It" series is produced through a USDA Capacity Building Grant project entitled: "Eradicating Food Deserts through the Development of School Gardens," by the The Southern University Ag Center and the Louisiana Public Broadcasting. The purpose of this video is to teach families and children transferable skills to grow their own fresh produce. The Southern University Ag Center (Baton Rouge, LA) is located in a food desert, which means there is limited access to fresh produce. According to Tiffany Franklin - Project Director, "The food desert project is a great opportunity for neighborhood school located near our campus. The students are excited about being outside, learning new skills and developing healthier eating habits."
