USDA Designates Louisiana a Primary Natural Disaster Area
On October 13, 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) designated all 64 parishes of Louisiana as natural disaster areas due to the combined effects of severe storms, tornadoes, severe spring flooding, Tropical Storm Lee, widespread drought and excessive heat that began Jan. 1, 2011, and continues. Southern University System's Tobacco-free Policy, now in Effect
Effective January 2, 2012, the Southern University System enforced its 100% tobacco-free policy. At the Southern University Ag Center, from where the policy originated, we have removed smoking receptacles, posted signs, and continue to educate our constituents regarding the adopted policy. The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund announced on November 9, 2011 that the period for claimants in the lawsuit to file their claims to begin on November 14, 2011 and last for six (6) months.
