Medical Marijuana Educational Tour

The goal of this educational tour is to discuss the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center's Medical Marijuana program and its challenges.  Southern University will lead this discussion and present a historical overview of its program.

Research has shown that the cannabis plant (flowers, leaves, and stems) can be used to medically treat numerous human ailments.  Some of these treatable diseases and illnesses include cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder, seizures, PTSD, and Parkinson’s disease, to name a few.   Southern University, via the Southern University Ag Center, holds one of two licenses to grow marijuana in Louisiana for medicinal uses.  During the educational tour, presenters will discuss the history of the Southern University Medical Marijuana program and the status of the program.

Tour Highlights:

  • Attendees will learn about the status of the Medical Marijuana program in Louisiana.
  • Panelists will include medical experts, top leaders in the medical marijuana industry, and dispensary owners.

The medical marijuana educational tour will also travel to Shreveport, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
