Dr. Renita Marshall named Interim Dean of the CAHES
Dr. Calvin Walker to represent the Ag Center during the SU System Board Meetings
Baton Rouge, La. - Dr. Renita Marshall, Vice Chancellor for Academic & Student Services at the Southern University Ag Center (SU Ag Center or SUAREC)/ Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural, Human and Environmental Sciences (CAHES), has been named the Interim Dean of CAHES.
The announcement was made on January 16, 2026 in a letter from Dr. Orlando F. McMeans, Southern University System Interim President and Chancellor of the SU Ag Center. The announcement follows the Southern University Board of Supervisors selection of Dr. McMeans, as Interim President.
“She is an invaluable part of the SUAREC team, and I am sure she will meet this opportunity with the same diligence and thoroughness she has exhibited as Vice Chancellor for Academic & Student Services/Associate Dean,” stated Dr. McMeans.
In the letter, Dr. McMeans also appointed Dr. Calvin Walker, Executive Vice Chancellor of the SU Ag Center, to serve as the Center’s representative during the Southern University System’s monthly board meetings.
“His vast institutional knowledge and experience will assist with maintaining representational continuity for SUAREC,” wrote Dr. McMeans.
After the selection of a permanent president, Dr. McMeans plans to return to his role as Chancellor-Dean of the SU Ag Center and CAHES.
