Baton Rouge, La. - Due to federal changes, the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center’s SNAP-Ed Nutrition Education Program will close on September 30, 2025.

For more than two decades, SNAP-Ed at the Southern University Ag Center has stood as a cornerstone of service, empowering Louisiana residents with the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to make healthier choices and lead more active lives. The program has reached communities large and small through innovative outreach strategies such as The Food for Thought Podcast, Facebook Live sessions, engaging nutrition classes, visual learning tools, and youth-based initiatives including C.H.E.R.R.Y. Pick and Summer C.H.E.F. Camps. These efforts have touched countless lives, leaving a lasting imprint on individuals, families, and entire communities across the state.

Although this chapter is coming to a close, our commitment to the health, wellness, and prosperity of Louisiana communities remains stronger than ever. The Southern University Ag Center will continue to deliver high-quality, research-based nutrition education through its Cooperative Extension programs. These initiatives will ensure that families across Louisiana have continued access to trusted resources, guidance, and opportunities that promote healthier living, stronger families, and thriving communities.
