SU Ag Center, College of Ag to host 2nd Annual ‘Pinking for You!’ Breast Cancer Awareness Event

Baton Rouge, La. – The 1890 Center of Excellence Nutrition, Health, Wellness and Quality of Life (NHWQL) at the Southern University Ag Center and the SU College of Agricultural, Human and Environmental Sciences (CAHES) will host, “Pinking for You! A Breast Cancer Awareness Event,” from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on October 30, 2025 at the Leon R. Tarver II Cultural and Heritage Center, 8320 G. Leon Netterville Dr., on Southern University’s Campus.

This free event will focus on promoting awareness in support of breast cancer survivors and individuals who are fighting breast cancer. The Center of Excellence will also donate items to two local organizations that will benefit breast cancer patients who are receiving treatment.

Darrell Davis, DNP APRNFNP-C, Family Nurse Practitioner at the Reddy Family Medical Clinic and Southern University alumni, will serve as the inspiring speaker for the event. Davis is the first male to obtain a Doctorate from Southern University School of Nursing.

The program will also include:

·        On-site screenings provided by the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s Mobile Unit

·        A food demonstration by Chef Celeste Gill

·        A panel discussion on the topic “Talk Pink to Me: Awareness Starts with a Conversation” featuring representatives from Alliant Benefits and AFLAC

·        A Pedals for Pink Bike Ride session with "Geaux Ride" (please wear appropriate footwear)

·        Giveaways
