SU Ag Center to host Ag Drone Certification Test Prep Training






Baton Rouge, La. – The Southern University Ag Center will host a drone certification test preparation training at the M. A. Edmound Multi-Purpose Building, 14600 Scenic Hwy., in Baton Rouge from Oct. 13-16, 2025.
The four-day training is designed for farmers, researchers, students, educators, entrepreneurs, and professionals interested in using drones for agriculture, research, business applications, or anyone seeking to become an FAA-certified drone pilot.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of drone operations, FAA Part 107 regulations, airspace classifications, weather effects on drones, safety protocols, and how to prepare for the FAA Part 107 certification exam. Participants will also gain hands-on knowledge of how drones can be applied in agriculture, research, and technology-driven industries.
“Events like this empower participants with the skills and certifications needed to safely and effectively use drone technology,” said LaShunda Anderson Hodges, Ph.D., SU Ag Center Research Professor of Soil and Plant Sciences and FAA Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot. “By hosting training sessions, the SU Ag Center provides valuable opportunities for education, workforce development, and innovation, ensuring that our community stays at the forefront of agricultural and technological advancements,” added Dr. Hodges.
