Dr. Chris Rogers named Associate Vice Chancellor of Communications & IT at SU Ag Center

Baton Rouge, La. – Dr. Chris Rogers has been appointed the Associate Vice Chancellor of Communications & IT at the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center. The appointment was made during the Southern University System’s Board of Supervisors meeting on March 18, 2022.


In his new role, the Mansura, La. native will serve as a member of the senior leadership team, provide leadership to the Ag Center for strategic planning related to administrative, instructional, and communications technology; ensures compliance with applicable law and regulations, and IT best practices for SU Ag Center and the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences. He also oversees the Office of Technology and Communications Services.


He has 25 plus years of experience in the field of Information Technology and Communications. He has served as the Director of Technology and Communications Services at the SU Ag Center and Duty CIO for Client Services at the Southern University System, an Adjunct Instructor in the Network Technician Program at Virginia College, an Adjunct Professor in the Mass Communications Department and the College of Education, both at Southern University, Interim Manager of the Systems and Technology Office, and Media Librarian/Webmaster, Technical Assistant/Media Specialist for Multimedia Instruction at the John B. Cade Library.


Dr. Rogers earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts (Print Journalism with a minor in Photography and Fine Arts, a Master’s in Mass Communications, both from Southern University, a Master of Library and Information Sciences from Louisiana State University, and a Ph.D. in Urban Forestry and Natural Resources from Southern University.
