SU Ag Center and 100 Black Women to host Bee Healthy 100 Community Health Fair

Baton Rouge, La. – The USDA Nutrition Hub at the Southern University Ag Center and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s Metropolitan Baton Rouge Chapter will host the Bee Healthy 100 Community Health Fair from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on April 5, 2025 at the F. G. Clark Activity Center on the Southern University campus.

 

The health fair is free and open to individuals of all ages. There will be panel discussions on mental and maternal health, a session of Jiggaerobics, diaper giveaways, door prizes, free food for the first 200 individuals who complete a survey, and interactive health screenings.

The mission of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.

 

The Southern University Ag Center has partnered with the USDA to establish the first Agricultural Science Center of Excellence for Nutrition and Diet (ASCEND) Nutrition Hub in 2023. The USDA Nutrition Hub offers nutrition-related information at the community level, especially to communities impacted by diet-related chronic diseases such as obesity, Type II diabetes and certain cancers; shares nutrition information and connects communities with programs; develops partnerships with organizations that serve Black communities and define community needs about food and nutrition; researches human nutrition, and builds a workforce to increase partnerships between researchers and those working in community nutrition and health.
