SU College of Ag set to hold Welcome Week Aug. 21-25, 2023

Baton Rouge, La. – The Southern University College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences (CAFCS) will host its Welcome Week August 21 – 25, 2023 on the campus of Southern University.

The week’s theme is, “Journeying Through Agriculture…Gaining Innovative Experiences.”

Events will begin on August 21 at 11 a.m. in the lobby of Pinkie Thrift Hall with the “Stop for a Piece of Success with the Vice Chancellor of CAFCS,” where students will have an opportunity to speak with Dr. Renita Marshall, the Vice Chancellor for Academics and Student Support/Associate Dean of the CAFCS and receive free pizza.

The “We are CAFCS” will be held on August 22 at 11 a.m. in the lobby of Pinkie Thrift Hall. Students majoring in the CAFCS will receive welcome Ag gear from the 93rd Miss Southern University–Elect and other CAFCS students who are members of the SGA.

“Pretty Cool Wednesday will be held at the Smith-Brown Student Union at 11 a.m. on August 23 and students will receive free freeze pops to help stay cool.

Students are invited to meet the CAFCS faculty, staff, and members of the CAFCS clubs on August 24 during the “Get the Scoop” event at 11 a.m. on the lawn of Pinkie Thrift Hall.

Students are also invited to pop in and pick up a bag of freshly popped popcorn in the lobby of Pinkie Thrift Hall at 12 p.m. during the TGIF: “CAFCS is Popping with Success” event.

Students will also have a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card by scanning a QR Code at each event during Welcome Week. The winner will be announced on the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences Instagram page.
