Tips to help you enjoy the Holiday Season

Baton Rouge, La. – Thanksgiving is a time for family, food, and fun. Here are a few tips to ensure you enjoy this holiday from Alexis Motley, MS, RDN, LDN and Dietetic Internship Director in the College of Ag.


  • Start the day with a high protein breakfast.
  • Drink at least 64 oz of water throughout the day.
  • Make half your plate green vegetables.
  • Add fresh fruit to the dessert menu.
  • After the Thanksgiving meal, participate in family fun that includes physical activity. For example, take a family walk, play football or basketball, or soccer.
  • Avoid overeating. Listen to your body. Skip seconds.
  • Limit alcohol consumption.
  • Enjoy family and friends.
