The SU Ag Center and the NMSDC Acres Program to co-host Soul of the Soil

Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center has partnered with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) to host the 2nd annual Soul of the Soil. 

The event themed, “Rooted in the Future: Cultivating Tomorrow,” will be held from 11 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. on July 3, 2024 at Harrah's Hotel and Casino, 228 Poydras St, New Orleans, LA 70130. 

SU Ag Center Chancellor-Dean, Dr. Orlando F. McMeans will be serve as the keynote speaker to discuss the systemic disparities for black farmers that have long shadowed the field of farming. 

Black farmers, advocates, and supporters are invited to participate in critical conversations driving change and to network and build valuable relationships.

NMSDC announced a partnership with the Southern University Ag Center in October 2023 to provide instructors and course material for the Acres 12-week learning curriculum focused on growing program participants’ capacity to take on major national contracts with NMSDC corporate members.
