SU Ag Center, College of Ag to hold Free Community Animal Clinic for Cats & Dogs

The Vet on Wheels Clinic is being held through a partner with the LSU Community Outreach Mobile Unit

Baton Rouge, La. – The Southern University Ag Center and the SU College of Agricultural, Human and Environmental Sciences’ Animal Science Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club has partnered with the LSU Community Outreach Mobile Unit to host Vet on Wheels, a free vaccine clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets.

This free community event will be held Nov. 6, 2024, from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. on the lawn of Fisher Hall on the Southern University campus as a part of the Ag Center’s Ag Week events geared towards community outreach.

“The economy has been hard, and some people can’t afford to get services for their pets,” expressed Dr. Tyra Davis, Assistant Professor/Agricultural Science and Technology at the College of Ag. “The program gives individuals an opportunity to get their pets healthy without having to accrue an additional cost,” she added.

The animals will receive their core vaccines including the rabies vaccine during the clinic.

Southern University Pre-Veterinary Medicine students will also have an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience during the event.
