SU Ag Center Extension Agent Cornelius Jackson Receives Above and Beyond Award
Baton Rouge, La. – Mr. Cornelius Jackson, Extension Agent at the SU Ag Center, received the Southern University System’s Above and Beyond Award during the Southern University System Board of Supervisors meeting on November 29, 2024, during Bayou Classic.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to be recognized as a leader in advancing positive agricultural initiatives,” stated Jackson. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my peers who are always there to help and the leadership of the Southern University Ag Center for this incredible recognition,” he added.
Mr. Jackson also serves as Director of the JAGFresh Farmers Market, Garden Specialist for SU Center of Excellence for Nutrition, Health, Wellness and Quality of Life, and Director of the Small Farmer Academy.
Mr. Jackson received a B.S. in Urban Forestry from Southern University and is currently pursuing a M.S. also from Southern University.
The “Above and Beyond Award" was established to help inspire and motivate Southern employees to reach their maximum performance. It honors outstanding achievements in the workplace, exceptional contributions toward efficiency and effectiveness of operations, special efforts in promoting workforce excellence, or outstanding service to the University community and constituents. One award is be presented at the SU Board of Supervisors meetings each month. Recipients of the award are nominated by their peers and the top three nominations are then selected by the Board of Supervisors chair and vice chairs.
