The Southern University College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences (CAFCS) will host its Welcome Week August 21 – 25, 2023 on the campus of Southern University.

The Southern University Ag Center will host its inaugural Calf Roping on the Bluff on September 2nd at the M. A. Edmond Livestock Arena’s Multipurpose Building, 14600 Scenic Hwy., in Baton Rouge at 11 a.m.

Baton Rouge, La. - The Fifth Ward Recreation Center in Amite City, Louisiana was buzzing with excitement at St. Helena Agriculture Day on July 24, 2023. The event was hosted by the Southern University Ag Center in conjunction with the Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education Program (SARE), MUSE 3 Farm, the St. Helena Cattle Company, and the LSU Ag Center and was aimed to raise awareness about agriculture and provided fresh produce to the Greensburg community.

Former Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center Chancellor, Leodrey Williams, Ed.D., officially named Chancellor Emeritus of the Ag Center during the Board of Supervisors July meeting.

The St. Helena Ag Day is free and open to youth and adults.

Four local 4-Hers received a $2,000 grant to address a community issue after attending the Ignite by 4-H Summit.

Dr. Donovan Segura, will serve as the keynote speaker for the first joint meeting of the ARD and SAAESD.

This short film explores how ancestral knowledge, education and awareness, research, innovation, community engagement, and entrepreneurship foster food production and distribution, through the stories of several Louisianans with ties to Southern University and A&M College, in Baton Rouge.
