The "Above and Beyond" Award was established to help inspire and motivate SU employees to reach their maximum performance. One award will be presented at the SU Board of Supervisors meetings each month.

Antoine Richardson, sophomore agribusiness student from Wynne, Arkansas, has been selected to represent Southern University at the 3rd annual EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 23 x HBCU Tournament with an exclusive experience during Super Bowl LVII week February 6 – February 13.

The Southern University Ag Center will host a Boots & Bling Affair at 7 p.m. on February 25, 2023 at the F.G Clark Activity Center (Mini Dome). This will be the opening event among several others to celebrate the historic 80th year of the Annual Livestock & Poultry Show. 

Residents and leaders of the Baton Rouge community participated in a USDA ASCEND listening session on diet-related health disparities on January 31, 2023 at the SU Ag Center's Maurice A. Edmond Arena Multi-Purpose Building.

Dr. Krystle Allen, Program Leader for Family and Consumer Sciences at the SU Ag Center and Assistant Specialist for Community and Economic Development, was selected as a participant in the 19th class of the LEAD21 program.

The Southern University Ag Center and the College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences will host the 28th annual Collegiate Black History Quiz Bowl at 3 p.m. on February 23 in the 3rd floor auditorium of T.T. Allain Hall on Southern University’s campus.

The SU Ag Center will celebrate its 80th Annual Livestock and Poultry Show on March 2 - 4, 2023. Several events have been planned leading up to the Livestock Show to mark this historic occasion.

Floyd Harris, College of Agricultural, Family and Consumer Sciences student, received the Unsung Hero Award at the MLK Unity Celebration held on Southern University Campus and hosted by Louisiana State University. Ms. Keandrys Dalton, Research Associate for the SU Ag Center, recommended Harris for this award. 

Southern University students Caleb Washington and Nikolas Lawrence, both students in the College of Agricultural, Family, and Consumer Sciences, receive Merchandise Grant from the LaMotte Company Environmental Education Photo Contest.
